Kareen McCafferty, 17 at the time, who said Mahfouz made her sign a contract allowing him to issue the spankings when he felt it appropriate, was awarded £7426 for her trips over his knee and for loss of earnings. Her fellow worker Tammeaka Cole, who was age 19 at the time of the incidents received £ 6510 for her red bottom ordeals.
Miss McCafferty said she had to endure over a half dozen spankings from Mahfouz who was co owner of the nursing home at Kettering, Northhamptonshire.
She was only 16 at the time when she was expected to memorize the house running procedures. When given a test later, she answered 20 of the questions incorrectly. "He told me it was no good and I obviously wasn't trying." she said. And then Mr. Mahfouz sat on a chair and ordered Miss McCafferty over his lap.

"He hit me with his hand on my bum about 20 times for each question I got wrong," she said.
The next night he spanked her on the bottom with a brush after failing another test.

Tammeaka Cole told the tribunal that Mahfouz used other excuses to spank her. She was given a spanking with a 12-inch ruler for failing to memorize the nursing home's emergency procedures.
Mr. Mahfouz denied spanking either girl and alleged they were unruly and sometimes disrespectful towards him. The compensation was awarded against him and his mother Dr. Yvonne Michael, co-owner of the home.
