The Spanking News - Reviewed: Guba -What the hell is it?

You might have been wondering about the banners and links I have put up for Guba lately, and many of you may have been asking yourself...What the hell is Guba? So I thought I would write a quick review to explain a few things.

To start, one of the most common emails I receive is...where did you get the movie you posted, and where can I find more like it? This is especially true for the Spanking In Wrestling movie clips I have posted, and lately people have been asking where they can find the video clips of spanking from TV and mainstream films. Basically if your looking for what is usually not found on a web site, there is one place to turn. The newsgroups. Or what is also known as usenet.

Now, anyone who has ever tried to write to me will tell you it is rare that I respond back to all emails. Mostly because:
1. I read them away from home where I am unable to write back.
2. I get tons of spam mixed in with normal emails.
3. My spam filter zaps some non-spam emails.
4. I receive about 35-50 emails a day.
So to make a long story short, if I ever did reply back to the people who asked about where I get the movies from, it was usually with just three words, "From the newsgroups."

Then they would write back and ask what are newsgroups? Where can I find them? Or I have newsgroups but when I try to download the movie it doesn't work..help! That is the quick story about why I decided to make this page about Guba.

Now that we have that out of the way, let me answer the first question before we move on. What are newsgroups? Newsgroups or usenet, actually predate the internet. Long before web browsers and fancy web graphics and pictures, we had something that basically looked like email, in a text only format. Yea, it was pretty boring visually, and that is the way it remains today.
Newsgroups are separated into every possible category, and you read them the same way you would read a message board or discussion forum with topics and threads. Most newsgroups allow you only to post text while others allow you to add an attachment. It is the attachments that we are interested in at the moment.

What the hell is Guba?

Guba is a paid newsgroup service. If you already know what newsgroups are, you will know that if you should happen to have a news service with your internet provider it probably sucks! How do I know it sucks? Because almost all news services that come from internet providers suck!! The reasons are too numerous to post here, and sometimes it isn't their fault, but basically it comes down to you not being able to download movies, because several things that are needed are missing. This makes the whole newsgroup service completely useless for anything other then reading or writing text, or posting small pictures.

Now, many companies were quick to come to your rescue and offer you a news service that doesn't suck.. at a price. But for people who are new to usenet they still found themselves frustrated because it works in a completely different way then the rest of the internet. For the internet, if you want to download a movie..say from my site for example, you would just right click on it and choose "save target as" and that would take care of downloading the movie, and then you just watch the movie. Right?

For downloading a movie or large file from the newsgroups however, is a completely different process. First you have to find a movie.. after weeding through all the spam. And unlike a web site, you can't just right click on one when you find it, because news servers split the movie into many small parts. It does this because newsgroups were originally made for text only. Since pictures and movie clips take up a lot more space, they have to be broken down into small parts, and spread out over many posts..and this is where the problems begin.

To download a movie you need all the parts, and sometimes this means you must download 10, 20, or sometimes hundreds of small 500k -1000k files. The second problem, and the problem that causes many people to rip their hair out, is that in general you need every single part of the movie for it to work, and most newsgroup servers will not have every part! Wait, it gets even better. On top of that you need several different programs that decodes and joins all the different parts together. And on top of THAT, sometimes when you download and successfully splice it together the movie simply does not work! Somewhere down the line one small part got corrupted, and that little problem screws up the whole thing.
So basically a lot of things need to go right, or you are simply wasting your time..sometimes hours of your time. Those of you who already have an understanding of newsgroups will know of the hell I speak of. Now here is a quick and easy solution to the problem.

Guba

With Guba you don't have to worry about any of that complicated stuff, you just select the newsgroup you want to go to, and everything is taken care of for you. Instead of the difficult to understand text format, Guba neatly arranges all the photos and movies waiting for you into thumbnail pictures, and even provides a short animation (see right) of a movie so you can decide if you want to waste your time downloading it or not. And most importantly, if Guba has the movie or video clip, you know it will work if you download it. No more wasted time with corrupted files.

Guba basically turns the newsgroups into an easy to use, searchable web site. You just find something you like, right click and save, and that's it. But here are a few things to keep in mind while using Guba:

1. Guba does not own or put up the pictures or movies you will see there. It is simply organizing newsgroups into an easy to use format. The pictures and movies are put up by posters of the newsgroups.. regular people like you or me. So if you would like to request that something be put up, you would post to the group and politely ask. Don't write to Guba.

2. On first glance you will see lots of pictures and movies from web sites like Girls Boarding School, Real Spankings, Firm hand, etc. To be honest it can be a little overwhelming, and addicting. Don't look at Guba to be a replacement for joining these sites. If you happen to see stuff from various web sites, look at it as a way of taking a glimpse of what they offer before joining. Let's face it, some pay sites have thousands of videos, and it wouldn't be fair for someone to put up all of them even if it were possible.

3. When posting a request, use common sense and be polite. Like I mentioned above, don't ask for all of the Girls Boarding School videos.. people will laugh at you! Someone posting a single video on usenet can take a considerable amount of time, sometimes an hour or more for larger movies. So be respectful and always think before you post. And to be clear, you never have to post or write to the group. That is entirely up to you. Many people just lurk in the background.

4. Keep in mind that the usenet servers don't keep movies on their servers forever. They are deleted automatically as more things are posted. So if you see something you like, download it right away, because it may not be there next week. Luckily with Guba, it saves posts longer then other usenet servers. But they won't be there forever. If you find something that was posted a month ago, it could be gone the next day. So try to download stuff as soon as possible.

Needless to say, Guba is heaven for a lot of people. If you could never get newsgroups to work, or didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to use different programs, and in the end still having problems and wasting time, Guba is perfect for you. Just click and save, the way things should be.
